William Alvie Milam, affectionately known by his family and friends as Bill, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 6, 2026, at the age of 66. Bill was born on June 24, 1960, in El Centro, California, a son of the late William "Dub" Milam and Clara Mae (Gilmore) Milam.
Bill was a hard worker all of his life. After graduating high school, he focused on his education at Mineral Area College where he obtained his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. While working at Brown Shoe, Bill met the love of his life, Sandra Grigery. They were united in marriage on May 28, 1983, and three children were born to this union.
Bill's strong work ethic was evident throughout his career. He worked for Purcell Tire, Missouri Red Quarries, and lastly for the Missouri Department of Corrections, where he retired after 23 years and 4 months of dedicated service. During his tenure, Bill served faithfully as a Corrections Officer, Sergeant, Case Manager, and Functional Unit Manager.
A true outdoorsman, Bill loved deer hunting, fishing, cutting hay, and working his cattle. He found great joy in tending to his chickens, sharing fresh eggs, and raising a massive vegetable garden just to share the bounty of his harvest with others. Bill was a jolly morning man who appreciated the simple pleasures of life: a cold glass of iced sweet tea at any hour, and a hearty meal of homemade fried chicken or meatloaf with mashed potatoes and all the fixings.
Bill cherished time spent with his family, especially on their many trips to Branson. He and Sandy loved antiquing together and finding good buys, and Bill always looked forward to a good trip to Rural King. He had a special appreciation for pocket knives, old westerns starring John Wayne, and tractors—holding a deep affection for both his dad's old blue Ford tractor and his own new Ford tractor.
Above all, Bill loved the Lord. He was a faithful member of Harvest Christian Centre, where he truly enjoyed fellowship with his friends and worshiping his Savior. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill's memory will forever be treasured by his wife of 43 years, Sandy Milam; three children: William Milam IV and wife Brittany, Michelle Milam, and Kenneth Milam and wife Amber; ten grandchildren: Dagan, Benton, Kate, Landon, Easton, Rowan, Aria, Avery, Atlee, and Axel; four siblings: Barbara (Bob) Aubuchon, Sandra (Jerry) Cartrette, Kathryn (Greg) Boyer, and Jonnie (Carl) Jones; his in-laws: Kenneth (Brandy) Grigery, Brenda Hamilton, and James (Rhonda) Grigery; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Dub and Clara Mae Milam; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Jean Grigery.
Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation at DeClue Funeral Home on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Harvest Christian Centre from 9:00 AM until the time of his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dwight Jones officiating. Interment and final prayers will follow at Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Belgrade, MO. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to DeClue Funeral Home, Potosi.
