Virginia Ilene Medley, lovingly known as Jenny, went to be with Jesus on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on July 4, 1937 in Butts, Missouri, Jenny graced the world with her kindness and warmth, embodying a spirit that touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. As the daughter of the late Otis Harmon and Mae (Merritt) Harmon, she carried the values of compassion and generosity throughout her life.
Jenny was married for an incredible 68 years to the love of her life, Charles Medley, who survives. Their bond was united in love on December 25, 1956, and from this union came two wonderful children, Janet Franklin (husband, Alan), and Justin Medley (wife, Kathy). Jenny cherished her role as a mother, pouring love into her family and proudly sharing their pictures with friends and relatives alike. Her heart expanded even further with the arrival of five grandchildren: Kayla (Adam) Weingartner, Matthew (Danielle) Franklin, Lauren (Tyler) Knapp, Colby Franklin, and Kristin (Michael) Rhodes. Jenny was blessed to see her family grow with ten great-grandchildren: Tommy and Maggie Weingartner; Gavin, Carter, Addison, and Kinsley Franklin; Jordan and Hunter Knapp; Colson and Wyatt Rhodes. Jenny additionally leaves behind her sister, Bessie Benson; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Mae Harmon, as well as six siblings: Arthur Harmon, Linnie Harmon, Clifford Harmon, Vern Driemeyer, Dolly Haffer, and Grace Dotson.
Jenny was known for her kind heart and caring nature, always eager to lend a helping hand. She devoted many hours volunteering with the ladies auxiliary at the Washington County Memorial Hospital. Jenny never met a stranger; she had a remarkable ability to connect with others, creating bonds that lasted a lifetime. A lover of music, Jenny would often sing alongside Charles in church, celebrating their shared love for God through the gift of song. Their voices brought joy to many as they ministered together, reflecting the love that flowed abundantly in their lives. Jenny’s love for Jesus shone brightly and often read her Bible, drawing comfort and strength from her faith. Fishing was not just a hobby for Jenny; it was a passion that brought her peace and happiness. One of her last requests was to go fishing one more time.
