Vickie Kassabaum

June 13, 1951 — August 24, 2021

Vickie Charlene Kassabaum- “Ma’am”, of Bonne Terre MO, passed on to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the age of 70. She was born June 13, 1951 in St. Louis. Vickie passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at her private residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Known as Ma’am to a dozen grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews. She was the essence of kindness, charm and class to those who knew her. Her class did not derive from a life of abundance but from a choice to make the best of things and incorporate her touch to the things and/or events that she deemed necessary.

Vickie had a long career as a cosmetic manager for Macy’s and was a familiar face greeting clients, co-workers and patrons with her lovely smile as they strolled through the store entrance. She took great pride in making herself and other women look and feel beautiful. She was strong, independent, and classy and had an empathetic way of empowering others to believe in themselves and to share these same characteristics.

Vickie had a love of beautiful things from flower arrangements, pictures, jewelry, fragrance, music and destinations. She enjoyed travel and loved to share her favorite establishments of St. Louis cuisine with family and friends or to take a trip to her treasured city of New Orleans, LA. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her and her legacy will live on for generations to come.

In addition to Vickie’s father and mother, she was also preceded in death by her step mother, Hattie Hulsey; first husband, Paul Ray Helms Sr. and two special sisters-in-law: Charlene Civey and Glenda Hedgcoth.

Those who remain to cherish her memory include her husband, Donald Kassabaum; three children: Kara Helms and Fiancé Tyler Green, Matt Helms (wife, April), Krista Weirich (husband, Aaron); twelve grandchildren: Alissa, Ryan and Brady Bennett, Tucker, Cooper and Melayna Green; Dylan, Clayton and Ava Helms, Dustin and Kyle Bishop, and Alex Martin; three great grandchildren: Lila Bennett, Brylee Bishop, and Charlee Bishop; two sisters and one brother; nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 3 to 5 PM at DeClue Funeral Home, 301 East High Street, Potosi, Missouri 63664.

A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow on Saturday beginning at 5 PM. Bro. Ronnie Buckingham will officiate Vickie’s service.
