Gertrude Lorelda Ross, lovingly known as “Trudie,” went to be with her Lord and Savior in March 6, 2026 at the age of 91.
Trudie was born on December 6, 1934, in Potosi, Missouri, a daughter of the late John “Ben” Lindsey and Ethel (Huttinger) Lindsey. She grew up in the Potosi area just off Delbridge Road, where her family homestead was located. It was there that she developed the strong values of faith, family, and hard work that would guide her throughout her life. She attended Valley Caledonia School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1952.
On March 1, 1953, Trudie was united in marriage to George C. Ross, and to this union three children were born.
Professionally, Trudie worked as a dedicated school secretary for the Richmond School District. She also served as a substitute teacher for a time, reflecting her caring nature and commitment to education and children.
Trudie was an avid reader who enjoyed everything from love stories to history. After her husband George’s retirement, the two spent time traveling to various states, with Alaska being one of their favorite destinations. She was a member of the Red Hat’s Club, where she cherished time spent with dear friends. Trudie was also a past member of the Potosi Presbyterian Church and remained deeply rooted in her faith throughout her life. She was very involved in the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star, both in Potosi and while living in California.
Trudie will be remembered as a kind and loving individual whose smile could warm your heart. She touched the lives of many with her warmth, generosity, and quiet strength, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three children: George Ross III (wife, Margarita), Lorelda “Lori” Mueller (husband, Dean), and Mark Ross (wife, Gretchen); her grandchildren: Shelley Mueller, Matthew (Laurel) Mueller, Dylan (Renee) Ross, Alyson Ross, George (Jennifer) Ross IV, and Dawn (Jason) McLendon; her great-grandchildren: Cayna, Aidan, Chloe, Hayden, Audrey, and Caellum; and great-great-grandchild, Blaise. She also leaves behind her sister, Meladean Richardson; sisters-in-law: Viola Jenson and Patty Molina; brother-in-law, Joe Ross; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Trudie was preceded in death by her parents, John “Ben” Lindsey and Ethel (Huttinger) Lindsey; her beloved husband, George C. Ross; and two brothers, John Lindsey and Eldo Lindsey.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
Trudie’s life was a testament to grace, love, and enduring faith. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
