Sylvia Jean Miller of Potosi, Missouri, was born on October 24, 1940 in Huzzah, Missouri, a daughter to the late Ralph Roscoe Scott and Esther Marie (Dicus) Scott. Sylvia passed away peacefully early Monday morning, May 13, 2024 in the comfort of her home having reached the age of 83.
Sylvia’s memory will be forever treasured by her family including her six children: Diana Patterson, Marie Fortune (husband, Donnie), Aaron Gunnells (wife, Deann), Linda Waldrop (husband, Trampas), Alaina Dean, and Donald Miller; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; two brothers: Warren (Cricket) Scott and Donald Scott. Sylvia also leaves behind a nephew, Ronald Scott Jr. (wife, Lorana); and a great niece, Hannah Marie Scott.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by one grandson, Bill Joe Dean III, and brother, Ronald "Ronnie" Scott.
One could say that Sylvia had a crafty side. She worked as a seamstress for over thirty years. In addition to her job as a seamstress, Sylvia found joy in working on both puzzles and solving crossword puzzles. Sylvia was also a talented singer, in the 60's she sang with the Jim Keeney Band.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at DeClue Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Service at 1 p.m. with Elder Mike Jarvis officiating. Interment and final prayers will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
