Shirley Jean Richards, of Caledonia, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 having reached the age of 82 years, 1 month and 29 days. Shirley was born on September 18, 1939, a daughter to the late Lenos Murray and the late Mamie (Howell) Murray.
On August 24, 1957, Shirley was united in marriage to Norman Richards and they shared 64 years of life and memories together. Shirley Jean Richards was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She cherished her relationship with God and always had her bible nearby. Anyone who visited her home knew they would leave with a full belly. She found great joy in cooking someone’s favorite meal or baking their favorite cake. Along with spending time in her kitchen, you could also find her outside tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She had a green thumb and loved to share her experience and knowledge of plants with others. Her love for others was apparent in everything she did and although she will be greatly missed by all those who knew her, we find comfort in that she is home with The Lord and reunited with friends and family again.
Those who remain to cherish her memory include her husband, Norman Richards; two children: Lisa Jarvis (husband, Steve), Paul Richards (wife, Linda); son-in-law, Dick Sanders; five grandchildren: Kayla Italiano (husband, Adam), Taylor Jarvis (wife, Kristen), Kaitlyn Jarvis, Jason Sanders (wife, Maria), Dylan Sanders; great grandson, Harry Italiano; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Sam and Debbie Richards.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Sanders; brother-in-law, Bob Richards; and sister-in-law, Doris Miller.
A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 from 10:30 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 1 PM at DeClue Funeral Home, 301 E. High Street, Potosi, Missouri 63664. Elder Mike Jarvis will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery.
