Shirley Aileen Griggs

Shirley Aileen Griggs passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. Born on February 24, 1939, in Belgrade, Missouri, Shirley was a daughter of Claude and Lilly (Vance) Berry.

Shirley was a devoted Christian whose faith was the foundation of her life. She worked diligently for over 30 years at the Brown Shoe Factory, where she took great pride in her work and the friendships she made. At home, she found joy in tending to her large garden and took great care in canning the vegetables she grew, providing for her family with love and tradition. Among her many roles, being a grandmother was one she cherished most, and she held a special place in her heart for her grandson, Connor Griggs. In her spare time, she could often be found enjoying being online. 

In addition to her many interests, Shirley leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward. She is survived by her devoted husband, Delbert Griggs; her son, Terry Griggs; and her cherished grandson, Connor Griggs; as well as her three siblings, Raymond Berry (wife, Delores), Margaret Ward, and Charles Berry (wife, Sandy).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lilly Berry, and her siblings: Oval Dean Berry, Virgil Berry, Herman Berry, and Everett Berry.

Visitation for Shirley will be held at DeClue Family Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 5 pm to 8 pm, followed by another visitation on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 9 am until the time of her funeral service at 11 am at the DeClue Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will follow at the Grassy Hollow Baptist Cemetery in Potosi.
