Sheila Bernice Barton

March 14, 1952 — October 27, 2025

Sheila Bernice Barton, age 73, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday evening, October 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 14, 1952, a cherished daughter of the late Marvin Dale Barton and Josephine Bernice (Benton) Barton.

Sheila had a smile that could brighten even the cloudiest of days and a laugh that filled your heart with joy. Her hugs were warm and heartfelt, and her expressive face often told more than words ever could. Sheila loved deeply and unconditionally, and her family and friends meant the world to her.

Sheila found happiness in the simplest of things—sweet treats and little treasures she would tuck away for later, her favorite drink - Dr. Pepper, or as Sheila would say, her “Pepper Pepper," and gifts on her birthday or at Christmas (which she never let anyone forget!). She also cherished her baby dolls and Barbie's, with a collection that filled an entire suitcase. Sheila loved to play dress-up in her cowgirl hats and boots, ready to share a big smile with anyone who crossed her path. She also loved collecting dollar bills, enjoying a Happy Meal from McDonald’s, and spending quiet moments putting puzzles together.

Most of all, Sheila loved Jesus. Gospel hymns filled her heart, and her faith shone through in everything she did. At Christmas time, her favorite song, “Silent Night,” brought her such peace and joy—just as she brought to those who loved her.

Sheila is survived by her two loving sisters, Debbie Lincoln and Diane Fernandes; and by many nieces and nephews who adored her and were endlessly blessed by her laughter, kindness, and hugs.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Marvin Barton; and her brother-in-law, Robert “Rob” Lincoln.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Iron Mountain Assembly of God, beginning at 11:00 a.m. A memorial service to honor Sheila will begin at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Larry Usher officiating. Funeral arrangements have been lovingly entrusted to DeClue Funeral Home.

Sheila’s life was a beautiful reflection of joy, faith, and love. Her laughter and her childlike delight in life will forever be remembered by those blessed enough to have known her. Though she will be dearly missed, her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved her.
