Roy Leon Kean, 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 9, 2026. Roy was born at his family home in Mineral Point, Missouri, on October 6, 1944, to the late Joe Kean and Laura June (McGee) Kean. He attended grade school at Mineral Point School.

On May 24, 1963, Roy was united in marriage to Barbara Gamble. Together, Roy and Barbara shared 58 years of life, love, family, and countless memories. Their years together were filled with the joys and challenges of raising a family and building a life side by side. Barbara was the mother of Roy’s children and remained an important part of his life and legacy. Following Barbara’s passing, Roy found love and companionship again and later married Mary (Forrester) Hedrick, with whom he shared the later years of his life.

Roy was a hard-working man who took great pride in providing for and protecting his family. He worked first at Alvey Conveyor and later at General Motors, where he retired after 23 years of dedicated service.

Roy found great joy in the simple things in life. He loved fishing and hunting, riding his four-wheeler and side-by-side, camping, and spending time outdoors. Some of his favorite moments were spent at the river or gathered around a campfire, telling stories and sharing laughter with the people he loved. He also enjoyed sitting on the porch with a chilled watermelon, visiting with his family.

Roy was a jokester with a wonderful sense of humor and had a special way of bringing laughter and joy wherever he went, often greeting you with a "Hi Pard." To his many nieces and nephews, he was the beloved “cool uncle.” He was never too busy to lend a helping hand, and no matter what was needed, Roy was always ready to help.

Above all, Roy loved the Lord. He was a dedicated member of Springtown Church of God and in most recent years, Reviving Hope whenever his health allowed. Roy was a wonderful, caring, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His greatest joy was his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Roy is survived by his wife, Mary Kean; his five children, Doug Kean, Mark Kean, Greg (Nicole) Kean, Michelle (Rev. Matt) Woods, and Hannah Lee Kean; his stepchildren, Steve Hedrick and Clive (Regina) Hedrick; and his grandchildren, Megan Dicus, Amanda Govero, Brook Kean, Kalua (Timothy) Usher, Kara (Donald) Kline, Daniel Kean, Amanda Kean, LaShae (Aaron) Aubuchon, Spencer (Nikki) Davis, Brady (Adria) Woods, Justin (Ji) Arnold, Dillion Gayman, Isaac Koeln, Elicon, and Steven, along with many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings, Floyd (Shirley) Kean and Rosemary Cain, as well as many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Barbara Kean; his two daughters, Brandy Koeln and Kim Gayman; six siblings, Dorothy Adams, Laverna Drennen, Bobby Kean, Brenda Ames, Betty Drennen, and Winona “Noma” Goodson; and many dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Roy leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories, countless stories, and a legacy of love, laughter, hard work, faith, and devotion that will continue through generations. He was a provider and protector, a man who loved deeply and gave generously of himself to those around him.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 10:30 AM until the time of his Funeral Service at 1 PM, held at DeClue Funeral Home with Pastor Dwight Jones officiating. Interment and final prayers will be held at New Diggins Cemetery.
