Rosie Charline Melton of Potosi, Missouri, was born on January 15, 1936 in Arkansas, a daughter of the late Charlie & Ethel (Austin) Hudson. Rosie went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 17, 2023, having reached the age of 87.
Those who remain to cherish her memory include her children: Carol Ann Harris, Regina Lynne Gullett and husband Roger; grandchildren: Jalayne Robinson and husband Brad, Kenneth Aaron Smith and wife Kelly, Mark Vollet and wife Jennifer, Jeremy Vollet, Melinda McMurrey, Katrina Gullett, Jayme Thomas, and Jason Gullett; numerous great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; sister, Pauline Tufts; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Rosie was preceded in death by her loving husband: Pastor Kenneth Ray Melton; daughter, Sandra Faye Melton; and siblings: James Hudson, Richard Hudson, and Anna Baxter.
Rosie loved being a pastor’s wife and going wherever Kenneth was led to go. Kenneth and Rosie joined Temple Missionary Baptist Church in 1974, while operating a grocery store in Belgrade. She joined Kenneth as he pastored seven churches in Missouri which include: Bates Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Potosi, Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Belgrade, Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Cane Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, Ohlman Missionary Baptist Church in Bunker, Black River Missionary Baptist Church, and Missionary Pastor at West Doniphan Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to the churches in Missouri, she was by Kenneth’s side while he also pastored in Arkansas, Illinois, and Kansas. Altogether, nearly forty years!
A Visitation will be Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 11 am until the time of her service at 1 pm, at DeClue Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hazel Creek Cemetery in Belgrade, Missouri, where she will be laid to rest by her husband, Kenneth.
