Randy Arthur Nickelson

July 18, 1956 — November 2, 2025

Randy Arthur Nickelson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away in the comfort of his home on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on July 18, 1956 in Cadet, Missouri, Randy was a son to the late William Nickelson and Anna Bell (Bourbon) Nickelson.

Randy’s professional journey was marked by a dedicated service to his community as a Sheriff's Deputy for Washington County for approximately five years. He later worked with the Missouri Department of Corrections from 2010 to 2016. Beyond his career, Randy's skills extended to various trades, making him known for his talents in construction, woodworking, and leatherwork. He created beautiful pieces of furniture and wood creations not only his home but also for his family and friends. A master gardener at heart, Randy cultivated a bountiful garden each year, generously sharing the fruits of his labor with those he loved.

An avid outdoorsman, Randy had a profound passion for hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed flea markets and antique stores where he could discover hidden treasures. Randy’s confident demeanor and extensive knowledge made him a source of support and inspiration to those around him. Family was everything to him, and he cherished the time spent creating memories with them. Among his proudest accomplishments was the restoration of a 1958 Chevy Apache truck.

Randy is survived by his devoted wife, LaFawn Nickelson; three children, Lacey Mersinger (husband, Philip), Heather Mathieson (husband, Alex), and Chad Govreau (wife, Emma). Randy was a proud grandpa, finding immeasurable joy in the lives of his six grandchildren: Alyssa Govero and Lee Bess, Tania Jenkins and Mason Nelson, Seth Jenkins, Krystian Jenkins, Madalynn Mersinger, and Macklin Mersinger. He is also survived by his brothers, Glen Nickelson (wife, Cheryl), Mike Nickelson, and Curt Nickelson; his sisters, Patricia Davis (husband, Bill) and Tammy Nickelson; along with brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many wonderful friends who will miss him dearly.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Bell Nickelson; his son, Jeremy Arthur Nickelson; and four siblings, Joyce Haarmann, Bill Nickelson, Gregory Nickelson, and Virlin Nickelson, as well as many other dear relatives.
