Obituary

Paul Ray Wohlbold of Cadet, Missouri, was born on April 10, 1942, in Cedar Hill, Missouri, a son of the late Dorse and Margaret (King) Wohlbold. Paul passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, at his home at the age of 84.

Paul attended Hillsboro High School. He was a hard worker throughout his entire life, beginning his working career at the young age of 15 when he went to work for Cedar Hill Tractor Supply. Later in his adult years, Paul went to work for Missouri Pacific Railroad, where he learned the skill of welding. He carried that skill with him throughout his career and eventually retired after several years of working for Fred Weber Construction.

Paul was not one to sit idle. Following his retirement, he began his own business, where he kept busy doing backhoe work, high-lift work, and hauling. He enjoyed staying active and could often be found working on cars, working on his property, or simply finding another project to keep his hands busy.

Paul was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time outside. He took pride in his work, valued his independence, and enjoyed keeping busy.

On September 10, 1989, Paul was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Smith. Paul and Joyce shared many years of cherished memories together until her passing in 2002.

In 2016, Paul found love and companionship once again and married Melissa (Valley) Clapp on July 17, 2016. They shared many meaningful years together. Paul will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.

Those who remain to treasure his memory include his wife, Melissa Wohlbold; daughter, Diane Douglas and husband, Bryan; son, Jeff Wohlbold; stepchildren, Greg Smith and wife, Kim, Donald Fowler and wife, Misty, and Joshua Fowler; brother, Donald Wohlbold; eight grandchildren, Isabella, Madison, Samantha, Hailey and Alex, Tyson, Krissy and Colton, Allison and Nate, and Cole; two great-grandchildren, Paislee and Charlie Lilly Rose; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Carl and Trina Valley and Jenny and Tony Clapp; niece, Dana Wohlbold; and nephew, Darren Wohlbold; and his beloved dog, Princess.

In addition to his parents and his first wife, Joyce, Paul was preceded in death by two sons, Kenny and Greg Wohlbold; brother, Glenn Wohlbold; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Lillie Valley; and sister-in-law, Angie Valley.

Paul leaves behind a lifetime of hard work, cherished memories, and the love of family and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 1:00 p.m., all held at DeClue Funeral Home. Interment and final prayers will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
