Melvin Dean Williamson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on February 8, 1937, in Dexter, Missouri, Melvin's life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family, a strong work ethic, and a profound faith.
After proudly serving in the Marine Corps from May 29, 1954, to May 28, 1957, Melvin returned home and built a remarkable career as a truck driver for Nordine Company. His 35 years of dedicated service ended with his retirement in 1997. Known to those who loved him as a "jack of all trades," Melvin was a man who made the most of life. He had a knack for fixing things and spent many happy hours in his shed, tinkering. In addition to his handy skills, he had a passion for the outdoors; he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and camping trips with his family.
Melvin's love story began in 1957 when he met the love of his life, Peggy Clark, at the Old IGA Store. Their bond grew strong, and they celebrated 65 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together, they were active members of Pine Valley Full Gospel, where they worshipped and shared in their faith. Melvin’s love for the Lord was evident in his daily life; he cherished reading his Bible and attending gospel singings at church.
He was a man who took immense pride in taking care of his family and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His warmth and generosity touched countless lives, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Williamson; his daughter, Lisa Boyer (Dennis); grandchildren: Brad Williamson, Brian Williamson, and Mindy Boyer; and great-grandchildren: Colin Williamson, Jordan Deckert, Calynn Williamson, and Mercy Boyer. He also leaves behind his step-brother, Elbert Stewart, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will hold his memory dear.
