Melinda Sue Thompson of Potosi, Missouri was born on September 21, 1960 in Potosi, a daughter of the late Orville Winick, Sr. and Shirley (Beck) Winick. Melinda passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at her home having reached the age of 61 years and. 3 months.
On November 21, 1978 Melinda was united in marriage to Mark C. Thompson and they shared thirty four years of life and love together. Mark preceded her in death on June 14, 2013. Melinda loved animals, especially her dogs, cats, and exotic birds. She was a true artist with yarn. Her family and friends will treasure the blankets and afghans they have received as gifts throughout the years. Melinda spent her first career as a CNA caring for nursing home residents and providing home healthcare. Her second career was as an over-the-road trucker, team driving with her husband, Mark. She retired from driving after Mark's passing in 2013. Her family will cherish memories of her kind and loving heart.
Those who remain to cherish her memory include her son, Mark Aaron Thompson; grandson, Blake Alexander Thompson; four siblings: Julie Kircher (husband, Kenneth Jr.), Shirley M. Kircher (husband, David), Orville A. Winick Jr. (wife, Jody), and Joni Heinen (husband, Chris). Melinda also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews and extended family.
A time of visitation will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 11 AM until the time of her Funeral at 1 PM. Services will be held at DeClue Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Carl Wilson.
Interment will follow in the Winick Family Cemetery. DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have ministered to Melinda’s family and friends.
