Lucy “Daphene” Moss of Park Hills, Missouri, was born on December 3, 1938 in Bunker, Missouri, a daughter of the late Jesse and Beulah (Webb) Nelson. Daphene’s faith was made sight on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, having reached the age of 84.
Those who remain to cherish her memory include her children: Bill Moss Jr (wife, Anne), Mark Moss (wife, Melinda), Tim Moss (wife, Patsy), Jesse Moss (wife, Nila), Matt Moss (wife, Penny), Phillip Moss (wife, Julie); a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Daphene was preceded in death by her husband, William Ray "Bill" Moss on February 8, 2022; siblings: Berneva DeNoon, Juanita Collier, Burnell Nelson, and Maurice Nelson.
Daphene loved the Lord and was always faithful to Him. She raised her boys in church and was there every time the doors were open. She was also the glue that kept the family together throughout the years. She taught her kids to never let go and see things through, even when times were tough. Her grandkids were her life, and loved all of her family. She enjoyed baking and cooking—she was one of the best cooks. She loved flowers, staying at the log house and sitting on the porch with Bill. She was known as the “cat lady”, because she loved cats so much. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, especially displaying her 16’ long village.
A Graveside Service will be Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 10 am, at Bismarck Masonic Cemetery. Her son, Pastor Mark Moss, will officiate her service.
DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have served the family of Ms. Daphene Moss.
