Loretta Catherine Masson, of Bonne Terre, Missouri, was born on November 28, 1932 in Potosi, Missouri, a daughter of the late William Greenlee and the late Nellie Woodruff. Loretta went to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 having reached the age of 90 years, 11 months and 3 days.
Those who remain to treasure her memory include her three children: Robert "Bud" Masson (wife, Donna), Brian Masson (wife, Jackie), and Trina Masson; grandchildren: Krista Massengale (husband, Bill), Shauna Gardziel (husband, Dave), Jennifer Pueschner (husband, Jake), Erin Forrester (husband, Brandon), Chris Nelson (wife, Lesli), Jeremy Nelson (wife, Shanyn), Andrea Stacy (husband, Tyler), Garrett Jones-Masson, Brianna Masson and Tony Russell, and Jonathan Masson; nineteen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; bonus grandchildren: Becky, Gracie and Zach as well as many other bonus grandchildren. Loretta also leaves behind a nephew, Ray Edward Greenlee; niece, Brenda Kleinstuber; extended family and friends.
Loretta was preceded in death by her father, William Greenlee and her mother, Nellie (Woodruff) Kelso; husband, Robert “Bob” Masson; daughter, Jackie (Masson) Crump Wilcox; grandson, Robbie Crump; six siblings: Kerry Ellen Greenlee, Lillie Raymo, Lenora Greenlee, Harold Greenlee, Jack Greenlee and Bob Greenlee; and other dear family members and close friends.
Loretta lived a full life and was loved by many. She loved her church, Sunrise Baptist Church of Bonne Terre, where she most recently attended until she was unable to go due to illness. When Loretta was younger, she along with her family attended Eastside Church of God of Leadwood. She loved her family so much, especially her grandchildren. Loretta enjoyed family gatherings and holiday dinners. She loved making her Christmas candy and will forever be remembered for her famous fudge, divinity and peanut butter logs. Loretta also enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles and always enjoyed the challenge of putting 1000-piece puzzles together upside down, without looking at the picture. She was a St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. She was very proud to attend her first baseball game at the age of 85 with her family. Loretta was also a proud American and was very patriotic. Her family takes comfort in the fact that Loretta is in the presence of the Lord.
A time of visitation will be held Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 4:30 to 8 pm at DeClue Funeral Home, 301 East High Street, MO 63664. Visitation will resume on Monday from 10 am until the time of her Funeral Service at 11 am held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Hartley officiating. Interment and final prayers will follow at Leadwood Cemetery.
