Lonnie Garry “Hippie” Eckhoff, Jr., of Cadet, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the age of 57. He was born on February 2, 1969, a son to Lonnie Garry Eckhoff, Sr. and Debra Elaine (Thompson) Eckhoff.
Hippie was a true outdoorsman who found some of his greatest joys in hunting, fishing, and cooking the fish he caught. He also enjoyed building cars alongside his dad, working with his hands, and spending time with the people he loved most. Above all, Hippie cherished his family, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren, who brought him great joy and happiness.
A hard worker throughout his life, Hippie spent many years working in roofing and construction. He was a man who knew the value of hard work and took pride in providing for and caring for those around him.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include his companion of 20 years, Patty Gleeson; his mother, Debbie Eckhoff; his father, Gary Eckhoff and Jane; his children, Logan Eckhoff and Ashley, Makenzie Eckhoff and Jacob, Paige Bourbon and Bobby, Justine Thompson, and Kendra Roux and Chris; his grandchildren, Oakley, Letty, Everleigh, Dexter, SJ, Violet, Alexandria, and Mason; his siblings, Donnie Eckhoff, Crystal Maxwell and Allen, and Lori Farris and Bruce; step-grandmother, Diana Thompson; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Hippie was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Josephine Eckhoff; his maternal grandparents, James and Laverne Thompson; and his sister, Marcie Eckhoff.
Visitation for Hippie will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, at DeClue Funeral Home, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the DeClue Memorial Chapel. Interment and final prayers will follow at Barlow Cemetery in Cadet, Missouri.
Hippie will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his hardworking nature, his love of cars and fishing, and most of all, the love he had for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
All funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
