Laurie Lynn Hanson

Laurie Lynn Hanson was born on May 15, 1964, in Waukegan, Illinois, a daughter to the late Joel VanCleve and Beatrice (Bowen) VanCleve. Laurie passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 60 years old. She was known as a unique lady who could be stubborn and sassy, yet was loving and helpful to those around her.

For nearly nine years, Laurie dedicated herself to working at Hoots Gas Station, where she built bonds with coworkers and customers alike. She had a passion for animals and loved her dogs, Kahly and Nyla, who brought joy to her life. Known for her phenomenal cooking, Laurie had a knack for creating delicious meals for her family. She also enjoyed motorcycle rides and the freedom they provided. With a green thumb, Laurie took great pleasure in gardening, nurturing both vegetables and a wide variety of flowers.

Laurie's proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She leaves behind her daughter, Katie Mayo & Mark; her son, Shaun Relken & Crystal; and grandchildren Chyenne, J'naya, Jayln, Kamron, Amiyah, Cassidy, and Sawyer. Additionally, she is survived by her four great-grandchildren, who will cherish her memory. Laurie's siblings, Phyllis VanCleve, Marshall VanCleve & Anja, and Teresa Lowrey, along with her special cousin Connie Smith & Phillip, also mourn her loss. She is further remembered by many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Laurie is preceded in death by her parents, Joel & Beatrice VanCleve; her son, Robert William "Robbie" Relken Jr.; and her siblings, Joel VanCleve and Angella Barczykowski.

There will be no formal arrangements at this time. Laurie Lynn Hanson's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
