Kathy Carlene King

Kathy Carlene King, a loving partner, devoted mother, proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, having reached the age of 69 years, 6 months, and 10 days. Kathy was born on January 31, 1956, to the late Lee Toppings and the late Evelyn (Drennen) Downard.

Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her partner of 18 years, Wayne Southern; three children: Chrisy Ketcherside and husband Richard, Terry King and wife Steffaney Usher, and Brian King; thirteen grandchildren: Dustin Rowlens (wife, Katrina), Zachery Rowlens (wife, Kasse), Christina Stahl (husband, Cass), Bella Gillespy (husband, Nate), Timothy King, Michael King (wife, Melody), Nathaniel King, Nicholas King (partner, Sophie), Cole King, Austin King, Tiffany Henson (husband Kyle), Christopher Edmond (wife, Stevie), and Paula Edmond-Bielke (husband, Nick); and twenty-one great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Toppings and Evelyn Downard, and her sister, Carol Caldwell.

Kathy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved camping, relaxing in the water on warm days, crocheting beautiful creations, and attending family gatherings. She never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with her warm smile and open heart.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 5 pm until 8 pm at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Thursday, August 14, from 11 am until the time of her funeral service at 1 pm, also at DeClue Funeral Home. Interment and final prayers will follow at New Diggins Cemetery in Mineral Point.
