Kathryn Bernadette Hollinsworth, affectionately known as Berny, passed away after a long courageous battle with her health at the age of 58 on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 7, 1967, Berny was a loving wife, mom, gram, daughter, sister, and friend who brought warmth and kindness to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce Hollinsworth; her daughter, Kayla (Levi) McClain; and her cherished grandson, Oliver McClain. Berny also left behind her loving parents, Victoria and Timothy Abbadusky; her three siblings, Thomas "Jerry" Scott (Betty), Sylvia Willmann (Bruce Dalrymple), and Daryl Tighe; as well as her caring in-laws, Sue and Cecil Brakefield, Jeff Hollinsworth and Joe Sapienza, Gary and Peggy Hollinsworth, and Tami Wakefield and Greg Fischer. She is also fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Berny’s spirit was nurtured by her love for animals, particularly her five cats: Frisco, Rosie, Aggie, Chicken Leg, and Lucky. A talented crafter, she had a knack for scrapbooking. Berny also had an appreciation for music of all genres. Berny also had a loving heart and an unwavering love for children. She was an avid reader who enjoyed cozy mysteries, and above all, Berny found joy in creating lasting memories with her family.
Throughout her life, Berny was known for her loving heart, solid strength, and her resilient personality. With a heart of gold, she always saw the good in everyone around her and never allowed the challenges of her illness to overshadow her determination and spirit.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at DeClue Funeral Home located at 301 E High Street in Potosi, Missouri. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, leading into the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment and final prayers will be held at Grassy Hollow Cemetery.
Berny will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered for her strength, compassion, and the countless memories she created with those she loved. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
