Obituary

Janie Roberta Greenwalt of Steelville, Missouri, was born on July 30, 1955, in Farmington, Missouri, a daughter of the late William Gale Wells and Avis (Phillips) Wells. Janie went to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the age of 71.

Janie was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Janie treasured her family and the special relationships she shared with her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Those who remain to cherish Janie's memory include her beloved husband, Ronald "Ronnie" Greenwalt; her three siblings, Linda Wilkson; Gale and Beverly Wells; and Jenny and Rick Sadler; along with her beloved nieces and nephews, Robby and Kayla Wells, Randy and Lynda Wells, James Wilkson, Kaylon and Kari Sadler, Kris and Leesa Taylor, Tara and Raymond Buxton, Kim and Gary Cooper, Rodney and Cindy Greenwalt, Jermey and Andrea Greenwalt, Kris Greenwalt, Brent White, Terry and Samantha Rice, Duane and Kate Stovall, Matt and Elizabeth Watson, Melissa Greenwalt, Jill and Daniel Gatknecht, and Tammy and Bruce Volner.

Janie also leaves behind her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry and Martha Greenwalt, Nancy Greenwalt, Karen Stovall, Connie and Phil Watson, and Judy and Charlie Wright; special cousin, Sharon Hays; and special friends, Cheryl and Bruce Donal.

In addition to her parents, Janie was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Charlie Harp; her in-laws, John Wilkson, David Greenwalt, Roger Greenwalt, James Rice, and Ella Jo Greenwalt; niece, Carol Taylor; special cousin, Kathy Wells; special friend, Sally Counts; and her three beloved fur babies, Rebel, Lady, and Barky.

Janie enjoyed spending time on her tablet, playing games and listening to music. She had a special love for crocheting and was always creating something new with her hands, whether it was a craft or a project for someone she loved. She was also a frequent shopper on the QVC Network and Oriental Trading. In years past, Janie worked as a dispatcher for the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and also worked at Walmart. She especially enjoyed fishing with Ronnie and treasured the time they spent together. Above all, Janie loved her family dearly, and the love she shared with them will remain a cherished part of their memories of her.

Visitation for Janie will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home. Janie's funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 1 p.m. held at the DeClue Chapel. Interment and final prayers will be held at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
