Janet Carolyn Thomas of Park Hills, Missouri, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the age of 83. Janet was born on March 10, 1943, in Flat River, Missouri, at the family home nestled on a hill just above the train tracks. She was the daughter of the late Lovell Petty and Mary Marie (Stam) Petty. On February 7, 1959, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Clarence “Gene” Thomas. Together, they shared 64 years of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Janet loved the simple things in life. She took great pride in planting flowers and tending to her yard, making sure everything was beautiful and well manicured. She was always sewing something, whether making dresses for family and friends, doing alterations, or repairing clothing. Janet also enjoyed gardening, especially alongside her son, Gary Dean. Her creativity extended to crafting.

Above all, Janet loved her family. She enjoyed cooking breakfast for her children through the years and treasured the time spent with those she loved. Her kindness, creativity, hardworking spirit, and love for her family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

Janet is survived by her three children, Gene Thomas Jr. (Debbie), Becky Marler, and Clyde Thomas (Tammy); daughter-in-law, Chris Thomas; her nine grandchildren, Jeremy (Laura) Marler, Melanie (Brandon) Warren, Melissa Marler, Megan (Josh) Lynch, Ashlee (Tony) Carver, Kaitlyn (Richard) Ide, Garrett Thomas and Jennifer, Hayley (Lee) Berkbuegler, and Alison Thomas; many special great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Delores Umfleet, Rev. Gary (Carol) Petty, John (Shonda) Petty, Marie (Dan) Bullock, Mark Petty, Danny Petty, and Debby (Mark) Graf; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Jerry (Diane) Thomas and Suzy Thomas; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Thomas; her son, Gary Dean Thomas; grandson, Jason Marler; great-grandchildren, Josh Marler and the Baby Carver twins; two siblings, Judy (Donnie) Upchurch and Paul (Linda) Petty; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Virginia Thomas; and brother-in-law, Tommy Thomas.

A time of visitation will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 1:00 p.m., all at Harvest Christian Centre, 1925 Highway 32 West, Park Hills, Missouri 63601. Pastor Dwight Jones will be officiating the service.

Interment and final prayers will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington.
