Henry "Hank" Deibel, born on October 9, 1927, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the age of 97. Hank dedicated many years of his life as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service, serving his community with pride and commitment.
Hank was a vibrant individual who brought joy to those around him. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and loved to watch old westerns. His time at the Sayers Senior Center of Potosi was filled with wonderful memories, where he enjoyed square dancing and listening to music with friends. His distinctive look often included his white cowboy hat and a bolo tie, earning him the affectionate nickname "Cowboy" from many of his friends.
In addition to his professional life and hobbies, Hank proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of the Potosi Masonic Lodge #131. In years past, he attended the First Baptist Church of Potosi when he was able.
Hank is survived by his son, Henry "Ike" (Jan) Deibel; daughter, Pamela Lowery; five grandchildren: Eric (Margo) Lowery, Kevin (Tara) Lowery, Danielle Lowery, Henry (Joshua) Deibel, and Keith Deibel; many great-grandchildren; two stepchildren: William (Ruth) Whitacre and Patricia (John) Little; along with many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert, and sisters, Patricia and Fredia "Lulu".
Hank is preceded in death by his parents, Henry J. Deibel and Hazel (Kuppersmith) Deibel; his first wife and mother of his children, Freda (Sullivan) Deibel; his second wife, Beatrice (Bannister) Deibel; son-in-law, Daniel Lowery; stepson, Louis Raymond Hamann; stepdaughter, Victoria Marie Howd; brothers, Charles "Bud"; and sisters, Hazel "Sally" and Shirley.
Visitation will take place on May 5, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at DeClue Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri. The funeral service will follow on the same day, starting at 12:00 PM. Elder Mike Jarvis will be officiating his service. Interment and final prayers will follow at New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, MO.
Hank will be remembered fondly by those who knew him for his kindness, laughter, and the love he shared with his family and friends. DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have been entrusted with Mr. Deibel's services.
