Gregory Eugene Courtaway

Gregory Eugene Courtaway, born on June 5, 1973, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in Potosi, Missouri. He will be remembered for his talents and the joy he brought to those around him.

Greg was the son of Arthur and Sharon (Wren) Courtaway, who cherished him deeply. He is survived by his devoted parents and his cherished grandmother, Mary Wren. Greg also leaves behind his nephews, Jonathan, Joseph, and Christopher Courtaway; dear friends: Leslie Lee and John Hardin. He will also be missed dearly by his loving family; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, all of whom played a significant role in his life and hold dear the memories they created together.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Courtaway, and his grandparents, Joseph and Luly Courtaway and Rev. Arty Wren, as well as great-grandparents Rev. Andrew and Ethel Hayes.

Throughout his life, Greg displayed a remarkable talent for leatherwork, crafting various items such as belts and wallets which showcased both his skill and creativity. His culinary talents also stood out. Greg's culinary journey included working at various restaurants while residing at the Lake of the Ozarks, where he was known for his passion for cooking. Greg enjoyed deer hunting and tending to his vegetable garden. His love for the outdoors was a source of joy and a way to connect with family and friends, who will fondly remember the adventures they shared, particularly the four-wheeler rides that brought much laughter and bonding to their time together.

Visitation services will be held at DeClue Family Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri, on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM, and continue on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on Saturday at 1:00 PM, followed by interment at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Potosi.
