Gordon Hill

David Gordon Hill of Herculaneum, Missouri was born on December 12, 1938 in
Shirley, Missouri a son of the late Amos R. Hill and the late Marple F. (Wilson)
Hill. On June 6, 1959, Gordon was united in marriage to Judy Akers and there
were three children born to this union.

Gordon went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 surrounded by
his loving family, having reached the age of seventy-nine.

Survivors include his loving wife, Judy Hill; two sons: Robert Hill and wife Julie,
and Steven Hill; three grandchildren: Emily, Kevin and Katie Hill; one brother,
Don Hill and wife Lealla; sisters-in-law: Sharon Hill, Fay Hill, Ruth Ann Hill, and
Georgia Ruth Worden; also surviving are nieces, nephews, relatives and dear
friends who will cherish his legacy.

Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Marple Hill; one daughter,
Doris A. Hill; Siblings and In-Laws: Margarite (Jack) Bays, Naomie (Lewis)
DeClue, Merle Hill, and Ronald Hill.

Gordon knew and loved the Lord Jesus Christ. He became a follower of Christ in
his late teenage years in the front seat of his 1949 Ford when a close friend, James
Simpson, shared the gospel with him.

In his teenage years, Gordon’s life was not only changed by Christ, but was also
changed when he met his wife, Judy. Judy remembers that it was Gordon’s car
that first caught her attention, but soon realized that Gordon’s personality
outshined his clean, sporty car.

During their marriage, Gordon and Judy faithfully served in church ministry and
were instrumental in helping begin many local churches.

Gordon always called his family “The Joy of His Life.” His wife and two sons,
Robert and Steve, never doubted his love for them and he was a faithful provider to
them. Times with his grandchildren, Emily, Kevin and Katie were times he always
cherished. He loved providing them with “the sweeter things in life,” such as a
never-ending supply of Pepsi or a $20 bill to fill up their gas tank. As he neared
his death, he expressed his thankfulness that God had provided him a kidney
transplant and granted him the years to see his grandchildren grow up and reach
adulthood.

Outside of his love for God, his wife and his family, Gordon loved everything
related to cars since his young adult years. He loved looking at antique cars,
talking about every model of car, and selling cars. In his earlier years, he and his
son Robert spent many mornings driving to the local car lots as soon as the new
models hit the showroom floor.

Additionally, Gordon was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He always loved
watching Cardinals baseball, even during the last years of his life, filling some of
his sleepless nights watching highlights of baseball games.

Gordon’s life could be summed up in this way: He was a dependable man who
loved his God and family above all else. He faithfully provided for his wife and
family through consistent hard work and generously gave to his sons and
grandchildren. His humor and jokes brought laughter to many. He will be dearly
missed, but his family and friends rejoice that he is now with the Lord, feeling no
more pain and perfect in His Savior Jesus Christ.

The Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 1
p.m. at the DeClue Funeral Home, 301 East High Street, Potosi, Missouri 63664.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 11, at 1 p.m. held in the
DeClue Memorial Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating.

Interment and final prayers will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.

Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted in to the care and direction of the
DeClue Funeral Home, Potosi, MO.
