Glenda Rose Walter, a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on June 23, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri, Glenda was a bright soul whose kindness and laughter could illuminate even the darkest of days.
Raised in a nurturing environment, Glenda graduated from Southwest High School, where her intelligence and passion for learning shone brightly. She proudly won the National French Contest in 1971 and went on to attend Miss Hickey's College for secretaries in Clayton, Missouri, thanks to a scholarship that recognized her remarkable talents. Glenda's proficiency in French was just one of the many facets that showcased her dedication to knowledge.
To know Glenda was truly to love her. Her sister, Ellie Scott, affectionately described her as possessing the caring and tender spirit of Mary Poppins, embodying warmth and generosity that made everyone around her feel cherished. Glenda had a deep, loving bond with her nieces, Kelly and Katelynn, whom she treasured as her own children. Though she never had children of her own, the joy and pride she found in her family were evident in every moment they shared.
Glenda's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with simple pleasures. She had a profound love for reading and often lost herself in the pages of a good book. Her appreciation for old black and white movies and the timeless melodies of Mozart brought her immense joy. A kind-hearted soul, Glenda also delighted in spoiling her cherished cats, Penny and Molly, showering them affection and care.
Glenda will be deeply missed by her surviving family, including her sister, Ellie Scott; niece, Katelynn Scott; great-nieces, Harper Rose Coleman and Ella Kate Griffin; and her beloved cats, Penny and Molly. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn W. Walter; mother, Francis (Cook) Walter; and niece, Kelly Joan (Scott) Griffin.
