Gary Alan Reed was born on February 6, 1949 in Berryman, Missouri, a son of the late Elmer Reed and the late Wilma Lee (Bouse) Reed. On December 29, 1973, Gary was united in marriage to Rhonda Brown, and they shared forty-six years of memories together. He proudly served in the United States Army from March 25, 1969 to June 16, 1970.
Gary went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 16, 2020 having reached the age of seventy-one years, six months, and ten days.
In addition to his father and mother, Gary was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Brown and many other relatives.
Those who remain to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Rhonda Reed; son, Gary Reed and wife Tracy; three grandchildren: Colton Michael Reed, Coy Lane Reed, and Amanda Layne Kay; brother, Bob Reed and wife Carol; sister, Patti Reed-Cook; mother-in-law, Jewell Brown; In-Laws: Robert and Marlene Brown, Paula Brown, Peggy and Scott Krenzke, Melissa and Tom Huff; his best friend that he called brother, David Bettis and wife Janet. Gary is also survived by many dear aunts and uncles; extended family and friends.
Gary worked for Doe Run Company where he retired from after twenty-nine years of service. He was a member of White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Gary was known for his passion for golf. He was a member of Fourche Valley Golf Glub where he was active in most golf leagues. Gary enjoyed the fellowship with his golfing buddies and always had a great time on the course. Gary was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. He took such pride in his home and property. He would work diligently to maintain and very meticulous lawn. Above all, Gary loved Rhonda with all of his heart, “his boys” Gary, Colton and Coy, and his daughter-in-law, Tracy. Gary’s family will carry his memory in their hearts until they meet again.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 5 to 8 pm at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Thursday, August 20th, at White Oak Grove Baptist Church from 9 to 11 am.
A Funeral Service will be held at White Oak Grove Baptist Church on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 11 am with Pastor Scott Welty officiating, assisted by Elder Mike Jarvis and Elder Leonard Compton. Interment will follow in White Oak Grove Cemetery. Gary received full military honors presented by the United States Army and VFW Post 6996.
