Obituary

Floyd Wayne Eckhoff, known to family and friends as Wayne, of Farmington, Missouri, was born on December 14, 1952, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Floyd Sylvester Eckhoff and Leona Mae (McGee) Eckhoff. Wayne passed away on October 16, 2026, at the age of 73.

Wayne loved his family dearly, but his grandchildren held an especially precious place in his heart. Being a grandparent was truly the happiest part of his life. He was so proud of his grandchildren. They brought him immense joy.

Wayne proudly served in the United States Navy and was an avid gun collector. In his youth, Wayne was a Golden Gloves boxer. He even sparred with the great Spinks brothers in his time. Wayne also took great pride in his appearance and was often the best-dressed man at family events. He loved being dressed to the nines in his suit, tie, cufflinks, and gold watch and rings. He had a style all his own and made sure to wear it well.

Wayne also had a playful sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He often entertained the kids by making up silly little rhymes with unexpected, off-the-wall punchlines. His jokes, stories, and unique personality brought laughter to those around him and created memories his loved ones will always treasure.

Those who remain to cherish Wayne’s memory include his children, Sarah Cook and Myles Eckhoff; his five grandchildren, Logan Cook, Ryan Cook, Jesse Cook, Amara McLaurin, and Brantlee Eckhoff; his son-in-law, Josh Cook; and his five siblings, Linda Ross, Susan Gould, Beth (Kevin) McCoy, Alan Eckhoff, and Darrell (Shannon) Eckhoff. Wayne also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Ticky and Leona Eckhoff, Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Ann Eckhoff; his brother, Marvin Eckhoff; his niece, Sonya Eckhoff; his brother-in-law, Robert Ross; and many other dear relatives.

Wayne will be remembered for his deep love for his family, the special bond he shared with his grandchildren, his impeccable style, and his playful sense of humor. The stories he told, the laughter he brought, and the love he gave will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. A service to honor Wayne will begin at 11 a.m. with Bro. Roy Brakefield officiating. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
