Everett Eli
DeClue
Dec 19, 1940 — Aug 11, 2026
Bonne Terre, MO
Everett Eli DeClue, of Bonne Terre, Missouri, passed away on August 11, 2026, at the age of 85. He was born on December 19, 1940, a son of the late Herman DeClue and Goldie Christine (Brim) DeClue. On August 29, 1964, Everett was united in marriage to Virginia Mae Patterson and they shared more than sixty-one years of marriage, building a life centered around family, hard work, and the simple things they both loved.
Everett was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for and supporting his family. He began his career as a sign maker at Grace Sign before transferring to Sonn Sign, where he continued working for more than sixty years before retiring.
Outside of work, Everett enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved golfing and trout fishing and could often be found tending to his well-manicured lawn and flowers. He was talented at building and painting birdhouses and took pride in the beauty he created around his home. Everett also enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, watching the news, and settling in to watch a good movie on the Great American Family Channel. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
More than anything, Everett cherished the time he spent with Virginia and his family. He especially loved supporting his grandson, Kyle, and could often be found in the stands cheering him on as he played ball throughout school and summer leagues. His quiet presence, hardworking nature, and love for his family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Virginia DeClue; daughter, Debbie (DeClue) Portell; two grandchildren, Kyle Portell and Mikaylah, and Karissa Portell; great-grandchild, Roman Portell; sister, Bessie Nettles and her husband Vernie; sister-in-law, Beulah DeClue; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by his siblings, Oliver DeClue; Marvin and Alice DeClue; Mae and Melvin Pruitt; Robert “Fuzzy” and Grace DeClue; Georgia and Earl Hedrick; Leo and Opal DeClue; Ruth and Steve Dean; Alvin DeClue; and Idabelle DeClue; as well as many other relatives.
In honor of Everett’s wishes, no formal services will be held at this time.
Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
