Edith May Maupin-McCaleb, age 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. She was born on January 27, 1941, a daughter to the late Ray Warden and Gladys (Robins) Warden.

On December 14, 2005, Edith was united in marriage to Stuart McCaleb. Together, they shared seventeen years before his passing on December 25, 2022.

Edith dedicated more than 20 years of her life to serving others through her work as a dental assistant with the Department of Veterans Affairs before retiring. She enjoyed traveling, especially her frequent trips to Mexico, and loved taking cruises and shopping. Edith had a gift for conversation and could talk to anyone. She never met a stranger and had a way of making those around her feel welcome.

Edith was known for her strong-willed, determined and feisty personality. She lived life on her own terms and was a woman who could certainly hold her own. Her vibrant personality and the memories she created with those she loved will be deeply missed.

Those who remain to cherish Edith's memory include her two step-children, Jill Croxford and husband, John, and Steve McCaleb and wife, Carla; five step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin Warden and wife, Becky; sister, Wanda Burge; as well as her aunt and many dear nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stuart “Stew” McCaleb; and her in-laws, Juanita and Raymond Couch, Ruby and Kenny Britz, Liz and Vernon Vivrett, and Chuck Burge.

Visitation for Edith will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at DeClue Funeral Home, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Chris Warden officiating. Interment and final prayers will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery, where Edith will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Stew.
