Donald Ray Hinkle of Hopewell, Missouri, was born on April 13, 1938, a son to the late Melvin Richard Hinkle and Grace (Fatchett) Hinkle. Don went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. On April 25, 1959, Don was united in marriage to the love of his life, Elvira Fann, whom he adored, and they shared nearly sixty-five years of life together.
Those who remain to treasure his memory include his three children: Donna King (husband, David), Gary Hinkle, and Tammy Lawson (husband, Jeff); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Hinkle (wife, Edna). Don also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to Don's parents, he was reunited in Heaven with his loving and devoted wife, Elvira Hinkle on October 7, 2023; three children: Cynthia Sherry Gale Anderson, David Eugene Hinkle, and Tracy Denise (Hinkle) Ames; three siblings: Melvin Hinkle, Bill Hinkle, and Mabel Gibson.
Don was a longtime member of Hopewell Church of God. He loved the Lord. Don often would sit with Elvira and listen to her read the Bible. He also loved singing and humming old gospel songs. Don was not one to stay still or have idol hands. He was always outside working or taking walks. Don thoroughly enjoyed fishing. Most recently he enjoyed watching The Three Stooges, Gaither Gospel Hour, and Bonanza. Don loved his family and cherished the moments they shared together. He will be remembered for being steadfast, having a great since of humor, his smile, and kindhearted.
In celebrating Don's life, a time of visitation will be held on Sunday evening, June 9, 2024 at DeClue Funeral Home, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, June 10th, from 9 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Service at 11 a.m.
Interment and final prayers will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery by Elvira. DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have served the family of Mr. Don Hinkle.
