Dolores "Toad" Akers

May 13, 1930 — September 20, 2023

Dolores Irene Akers, also lovingly known by family and friends as “Toad”, of Belgrade, Missouri, was born on May 13, 1930 in River Rouge, Michigan, a daughter of the late Hurst and Ethel (Jenkins) Nipper. Jesus took her by the hand to her new home in Heaven on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, having reached the age of 93.

Those who remain to cherish her memory include her two daughters: Sharon Ives and Judy Bell (husband, John); four grandchildren: Craig Ives (wife, Bonnie), Danielle Ives, Amy Stringer (husband, Dennis), and Tia Coon (husband, Brandon); 16 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Clyde Nipper, and Cyril Nipper (wife, Bonnie). Dolores was also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Lawrence Akers on March 16, 2022; son-in-law, Roger Ives; great grandson, Cayden; two brothers: Jim Nipper, George Nipper; and two sisters: Bernell Nipper and Erma Hudson.

Dolores loved serving in ministry alongside her husband, Lawrence, at Hazel Creek First Church of God for many years; playing the piano and singing. Her family was her heartbeat and found much joy in playing with her grandchildren—always laughing. They always loved Grandma’s peanut butter rice crispy treats and playing cards. Dolores always looked forward to hosting her annual fall party for her family. She had a servant’s heart and her greatest wish was that all of her family would know the Lord as their Savior.
