Deborah Jean Benson Lawson was born on July 11 1956 to Verlin Lloyd Benson and Lillian Bowen, the 2nd daughter and 4th child of 6 to this union. Debbie was the loving wife of Bryan K. "Boob" Lawson, with whom she was joined in marriage on July 5th, 1994, and they shared over 27 years together.
Debbie left us on September 9 2021, passing peacefully at her residence.
To all who knew her, Deb was a crazy, silly soul, who relished being the "blonde" of the family. She rarely "got" a joke, even when it was explained to her, but was able to make us all laugh with some of her terms for things. Debbie loved to crochet and quilt, and many people have one of her pieces that she sold at the Blue Haven Cafe in Irondale. Her smile and laugh will be missed by all who knew her.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David Verlin Benson.
Those who remain to mourn her are her husband Bryan, her siblings Roger Dale and wife Janet Benson; Phyllis Elaine and husband Stanley Lucas; Bonnie Sue and husband Chris Mead; Danny Wayne and wife Shana Benson; and Shelia Baker, along with many extended family, cousins, and friends.
The family will hold a graveside memorial on Saturday, September 18th at 11 am at New Diggins Cemetery, with Debbie's cremains being laid to rest next to the mother she adored and missed dearly. They are no doubt enjoying a glorious reunion now, along with David, and are waiting to welcome the rest of us when our time comes. Prayers for the family are welcome but no flowers are necessary; instead, Debbie would have loved to know that a donation to a church or food pantry was made in her name, as a thank you for those times when she and Bryan received blessings and support.
Arrangements are entrusted to DeClue Family Funeral Home in Potosi.
