David Lee Evans of Potosi, Missouri, was born on March 27, 1949, in Potosi, a son of the late Hadley James Evans and the late Ellen Mandy (Price) Evans. David departed this life with his family by his side on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the age of 77.

On April 3, 1970, David was united in marriage to Kathryn Pierce at Bates Creek Baptist Church. Together, they shared 44 years of marriage and were blessed with two children.

David was a hard worker throughout his life. He began his working career owning and operating DL Evans Sawmill both in Tennessee for a short time and Potosi. David also worked for Pea Ridge Mines with his son-in-law Mac Jr. and Mac Sr. David spent many days on the road as an over-the-road truck driver, a profession he enjoyed for several years. He later began working for Arch Johnson Quarry, where he remained for more than 20 years before retiring.

David had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar, banjo, and mandolin. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing, but perhaps what he cherished most was the time he spent with his family. David was a proud Papa to his four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, who brought great joy to his life.

Following Kathy's passing in 2014, David found love and companionship again and was united in marriage to Debrah Coleman on July 10, 2021, at Stony Point Baptist Church. They shared nearly two years together until Debbie's passing in 2023.

David is survived by his two children, Christina Jarvis and her husband, Mac Jr., and Petey Evans and his wife, Andrea; four grandchildren, Joshua and Ally, Kaiden, Gemma, and Abel; two great-granddaughters, Lily and Layla; two brothers: Rev. Claude Evans and his wife, Bea and Steve Evans; and his sister, Shirley Boyer and her husband, JD; brother-in-law, Ronald Palmer. David also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Kathy; his second wife, Debbie; two infant brothers: Bobby Gene Evans, Phillip Bruce Evans; and his siblings and in-laws, James and Wilma Evans, Ruby and Wendell Allen, Leona and Charles Missey, Rev. Charles and Evelyn Evans, and Betty Palmer, as well as many other dear relatives.

In David’s final days on this earth, he was blessed to receive incredible care from his two special great nieces who he loved appreciated so much, Anessa and Katrina. David’s family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Sheila Marler, Pam Wilkerson, and Brenda Eaton, Brenda Huddleston, and Mandy Missey Blanks for the kindness, love, and support they showed during this difficult time. Your compassion and care will never be forgotten.

David will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of music and the outdoors, and most of all, his devotion to his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Pastors Claude Evans and JC Huddleston will be officiating. Interment will follow at Bates Creek Cemetery, where David will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Kathy.
