Darren Ray Smith, of Mineral Point, Missouri, was born on March 25, 1970, to the late Danny Ray and JoAnn (Lay) Smith. He passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the age of 56.

Darren was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for those he loved. He was exceptionally talented in concrete work, specializing in finishing, stamping, and decorative concrete, and his craftsmanship was admired by many. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, hunting—especially deer hunting—and playing pool. Some of his favorite moments were spent fishing with his grandchildren and making lasting memories with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved grandchildren, Aidreonna Douglas and Gavin Pratt (Hailey Emily); his treasured great-grandson, Taytum Pratt; his brother, Dennis (Teresa) Smith; his niece and nephews, Tessy (Josh) Waeltz, Daniel (Destiny) Smith, and Mark (Hailey) Smith; his uncle, Carl Smith; his aunt, Donna Smith Goodson; his great-aunt, Judy Presley; along with many extended family members and friends who will fondly remember him.

In addition to his parents, Darren was preceded in death by his longtime companion and the love of his life, Janet Briley.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at DeClue Funeral Home. Interment will follow at New Diggins Cemetery, where Darren will be laid to rest beside Janet.
