Colin Alfred Whitley, also lovingly known by friends and family as "CalDawg", was born on July 8, 1976, in St Louis, Missouri, a son of John Lee and Barb Whitley. CalDawg passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, having reached the age of 46.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include his One Love for 37 years, wife of 17 years, and best friend, Tina Whitley; parents: John Lee and Barb Whitley; children: Timothy Helms, Savannah Helms and Dave, Dillon Whitley (wife, Kayla), Dalton Whitley and Abby, Carter Whitley and Alexis Whitley; grandchildren: Rayllon Whitley, Mykinlee Whitley, Raygon Whitley, Cheznee Whitley, Brinley Hill, Blaine Hill, Conner Courtois, Hayden Courtois, Layne Courtois; siblings: Sonya White and Donnie Mellerup, Michelle Whitley and twin sister, Colleen Edgar (husband, Jason). Colin is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family and many friends.
CalDawg was preceded in death by his son, Colin Keith Whitley on December 22, 2016; brother, Brandon Whitley; grandparents: John and Edith Whitley; and dear friend, "Big John" Gibson.
Colin loved basketball and was a Potosi Trojans fan. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and hunting. He was fearless, but always extended a helping hand to anybody in need. He enjoyed finding good deals at Enhancements, yard sales, resale shops, and was considered a “wheeler and dealer”. In the words of Colin, he was a “jack of all trades and master of all.” What he enjoyed most was his family, and all of his friends, and he will be missed by them all.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 5 to 8 pm at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 12, 2023, from 11 am to 1 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 1 pm at the DeClue Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Whitley Family Cemetery in Potosi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to DeClue Funeral Home, 301 E High St, Potosi, MO, 63664.
