Obituary

Betty Ann Missey of Cadet, Missouri, was born on September 18, 1946, in DeSoto, Missouri, a daughter of the late Henry D. Skiles and the late Wilhelmina (Clark) Skiles. Betty departed this life on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the age of 79.

Betty grew up in the DeSoto area and graduated from DeSoto High School with the Class of 1963. On December 26, 1964, she married Donald Missey, and together they shared nearly 64 wonderful years of marriage.

Betty enjoyed many simple pleasures in life, including bowling, crocheting, playing solitaire on her computer, drinking Pepsi, and indulging in chocolate-covered cherries. She was attended Potosi Southern Baptist Church for many years, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She especially looked forward to participating in the church’s Easter Cantata each year.

Most of all, Betty cherished time spent with her family. She loved gathering together, making memories, and singing old songs with those she loved. Her family and the time they shared together brought her great joy throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald “Bud” Missey; her son, Dennis Paul Missey; her siblings, Bonnie Lohmann, Gary Skiles, and Linda Oshia-Allen; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Louise Missey.

Those who remain to treasure Betty’s memory include her three children, Leslie Johnson; Don Missey and wife, Wendy; and Kevin Missey and wife, Tracey.

She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Charles “CJ” (Stephanie) Bone, Travis “TJ” (Allison) Bradley, Jacie (Dustin) Coleman, Chad Hopkins, Alex (Kayla) Missey, Kara (Cole) Richards, Conner (Vittoria) Missey, Kaylee (Cainan) Hutsell, Marissa (Dylan) Travica, Riley Hill, and Jaimasen Missey; and numerous special great grandchildren.

Betty is also survived by her three siblings, Henry E. Skiles and wife, Charlotte; Bob Skiles and wife, Margaret; and Jim Skiles and wife, Janie; along with many dear nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family members, and friends who will cherish the memories they made with her.

Betty’s life was a gift to all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends and in the many lives she touched throughout her years.
